Biography
Since early 2004 vocalist/guitarist Bill Bungeroth and drummer Ryan Juravic have been quietly working to become key players on the Chicago music scene. After a trial and error period in which the two worked with various bass and keyboard players, the lineup was finally complete with the addition of former Magnus bassist Scott Schaafsma in '06, and local singer/songwriter Heather Perry joining the group in early '07. With the final lineup in place, City Electric is to put it simply, ready. City Electric's debut EP Five Easy Pieces was recorded at Semaphore Studios (Chicago) and engineered by Jeremy Lemos (Sonic Youth, Loose Fur, Sterolab). It shows the band seamlessly finding their niche amongst golden era NYC punk, mixed with signature noise pop and a healthy dose of experimental sensibility. They possess an immediate and individual sound – sometimes bittersweet, sometimes tenacious, yet always strangely familiar. Influenced by everything from Nick Drake and Jim O’Rourke, to Talking Heads and Sonic Youth, City Electric performed their inaugural gig at Chicago's Empty Bottle in early 2004, and they’re only beginning to build steam. Reaching out to the Chicago music scene and far beyond- City Electric is on the make. |
